Ngertawara, in the context of mask and puppet performances in Cirebon, is a kind of prologue ‖-or short dialogue that serves to describe a situation or a particular scene, whether that be, being, or has happened. The language is usually delivered in the form of lyrical prose or a short dialogue between the puppeteer and the nayaga. In the Sundanese puppet show performances, ngertawara tantamount to Nayndra. Arrival and departure of a character, or the beginning and end of a scene, usually told in such a way as to provide information that will, that is, and it has happened to the audience.
